SPIRITUAL POINT OF VIEW
Visual Review

The Director Robert Luketic says this about the theme of his film, “We are certainly all equal but the ugly truth is that there are things men need and there are things women need – and sometimes they clash, and yet . . . it’s that difference that makes romance so exciting and wonderful.”

Romantic comedies certainly give opportunity to discuss the meaning of gender, relationship and even love. This was made especially clear in a 1995 film, Don Juan deMarco, when the Johnny Depp character says:

“There are four questions of value in life...
What is sacred?
Of what is the spirit made?
What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for?
The answer to each is the same.
Only love.”
