Born to race cars, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized—the legendary Rex Racer, whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer (John Goodman), the designer of Speed’s thundering Mach 5.

SYNOPSIS
When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company’s maniacal owner (Roger Allam) but uncovers a terrible secret—some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits.

If Speed won’t drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line. The only way for Speed to save his family’s business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie (Christina Ricci), Speed teams with his one-time rival—the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox)—to win the race that had taken his brother’s life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

Speed Racer loves to race cars! He loves it more than anything else! Speed says, “Racing is everything.”

As one person put it, “He’s only interested in one thing. It is all he talks about. All he seems capable of thinking about is automobile racing.”

Do you think that racing cars could become a religion? For Speed Racer it is! He says, “It’s like a religion.”

slide
It’s good to have interests and hobbies, but you must be careful that such things don’t take the place of your friends and family –or get in the way of your relationship with God. When things can come between you and others it’s not good.

slide
The Bible has a lot to say about this. Jesus once said that the 2 greatest commandments were:
1. Love God
2. Love others.

slide
Great truth! But like Speed Racer we all let other things get in the way of our relationship with God, our friends, and even our family. We often put our self interests first. The Bible calls this sin.

slide
Sin separates us from God, others and the wonderful eternal life God has for us. The Bible says, “We all have sinned.”   And our “sins have cut you off from God” (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:2).

slide
So how do you change?
As crazy as it might sound, Speed thought he could save himself. Speed Racer’s dad, Pops Racer, told him, “Do you think you can drive a car and change the world? It does not work like that!”

Speed replied, “Maybe not. But it is the only thing I know how to do and I have to do something.”

slide
The enemy wants to destroy you.
Just as Speed has an enemy, so do you! Satan will do everything thing he can to keep you from the new life God has for you. Jesus said, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life” (John 10:10). By saying “Yes” to God, new life is yours and Satan can do nothing to stop you.

slide
How Jesus can change you?
By trusting in Jesus, your relation with God is restored, just as the Bible says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

Here is the game plan as set forth by the Bible:
1. Sin separates us from God.
2. Only Jesus can take away our sin.
3. You must trust Jesus as your Leader and Savior.
4. God’s free gift to us is new life –eternal life with him.

slide
Your “Yes” to God, is more powerful than Satan’s “No.”

SAY “YES” TO JESUS RIGHT NOW.
Pray this simple prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father thank you for loving me. I am sorry for those things I have done that have separated us. Please forgive me. I want Jesus to be the leader and savior of my life. I believe he died on the cross and conquered death so that I could have eternal life with you. I receive this new life you freely give. In the name of Jesus, amen.

Did you sincerely mean that prayer? If so, new life is yours! You are now part of God’s forever family.  Old things have passed away and you have been born anew.
