Recommendation: Buy it (especially if you are a big fan of the movie because there are 4 hours of extra features!)

My friends went to see Iron Man in the theater a while back. If you can believe it, they saw my last name, Zalamea, in the credits. No, I'm not in the movie, but mystunt-manbrother is. He did not double any of the main characters, especially not Robert Downey, but he did recently have the same kind of breakthrough as Tony Stark.

This breakthrough is best described in the scene when Stark was escaping his captors. Yinsen, the hostage-mate that gives up his life so Stark could live, dies saying, "Don't... waste... your... life." From there Stark realizes that he has been living such a shallow existence and turns it around by creating a suit that helps him help others.

In a world that, in both subtle and more in-your-face ways, lures us into wasting our lives on materialism, debauchery, and really... selfishness, this was a refreshing message from a blockbuster superhero flick. Many of us waste our lives... maybe not as blatantly as Stark, but waste it nonetheless. I hope God uses this film to wake some of us, including me, out of thatmalaise.
