Here's a bit from a recent press release about Operation Narnia, first announced back in August:
When the Pevensie children first arrive in Narnia it was always winter and never Christmas. This year, we've launched OPERATION NARNIA, a partnership with Samaritan's Purse, to provide Christmas to needy children around the world.

Georgie Henley ("Lucy Pevensie") has recorded a special introductory video for our website designed to encourage families, churches, and ministries to create shoe boxes filled with necessities, toys, and Christmas greetings. Imagine the impact and smile each box will bring to a child in need on Christmas morning.
And here's a summary of articles posted at Hollywood Jesus this weekend about Operation Narnia (click on the headers for the full articles):

Mark Sommer, Narnia News Host:
Time to Start Packing Up Shoe Boxes!

Back in August the NarniaFans Facebook page announced: "Operation Narnia has launched! 20th Century Fox, Walden Media, and Operation Christmas Child have teamed up to give 8 million shoe boxes to kids around the world where it's always winter and never Christmas."

Operation Christmas Child provides shoe boxes filled with toys and necessities to needy children around the world as part of Franklin Grahm's Samaritan's Purse. According to a recent Press Release, "Since 1993, Operation Christmas Child has hand-delivered shoe box gifts in over 130 countries to more than 77 million children suffering from poverty, disaster, disease, and war."

OCC is partnering with The Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie, which has set up a website at OperationNarnia.org. The site features a video presentation by Georgie Henley (Lucy in the movies), the original Dawn Treader trailer, and links to details about how you can be involved in giving a Christmas shoebox to a child in need. For many children, these will be the first gifts they have ever received.

For more information on how you can be involved, go to the "How to Pack a Shoe Box" by clicking here.

There is also an opportunity to sign up to win a trip to London to see the Premiere of the film...

Mike Furches, host of The Virtual Pew:
Many know I love Christmas; in fact, every Christmas I am involved in a number of things that frankly, yes, I will say unapologetically, bring me a great deal of pleasure. I get to play about a month-long gig of being Santa Claus. I especially enjoy the opportunity of serving the homeless as Santa, as well as poor children by delivering Christmas presents on Christmas Eve to families who otherwise wouldn't get to enjoy Christmas.

This Christmas there is something special occurring that I would like to get an early plug in for: the collaboration between Walden Media and their film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan's Purse, the ministry headed up by Franklin Graham. Graham stated in a press release, "We're very excited to participate in the upcoming release of the movie, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. We want children around the world to know the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, and the joy and hope that this brings."
