November Thanks... and Worship Jacob Sahms, Music Editor
Before I get into the focus of this month, which is worship, I have to
admit that I am excited about our "Twelve Days of Christmas Music"
coming December 1st-12th. I hope that you'll come back each day for the
first two weeks of December and enjoy what Nate and I have cooked up!
But the focus of this month's newsletter is the stack of worship music
on my desk, so here goes!

Tim McGraw
Countrified Wonderful
The older McGraw gets, the more reflective he becomes. It's natural,
right? It's just part of life that the longer we live, the more
experience we gain, and we can look back and see our successes (and
failures) in Blu-ray clarity. But the other difference I notice as I
continue to listen to Southern Voice, McGraw's tenth studio album, is that he is becoming decidedly more spiritual in his lyrical delivery.
Now, recognizing that McGraw doesn't have a single recorded credit
for the songs' lyrics, it's amazing how easily he slides into the
different voices and deliveries that the songs provide. Whether it's
the serious but solemn "Mr. Whoever You Are" or the funny "It's A
Business Doing Pleasure With You" (also the album's first single),
McGraw's voice and delivery captures the spot-on sound that makes each
song seem like a home run.

McGraw also appears in The Blind Side, due out this week. Check out Greg Wright's interview with McGraw the actor...

Switchfoot Drummer Chad Butler
HJ: First off, I really enjoyed your new album. I can't wait to see
how the rest of your listeners like it! Can you explain the title
"Hello Hurricane" a little bit?
Chad: Thanks a lot. We had an opportunity to work with
Habitat for Humanity in Baton Rouge after Hurricane Katrina. We worked
alongside a lot of people who inspired us, but particularly one woman
who lost her leg in the storm and was learning to walk again. We hope
the album embodies the idea of facing the storms and trials of life
head on and sharing that same spirit.
HJ: Which song did you personally connect with the most?
