SEEING
JESUS LIKE SIMILARITIES IN SUPERMAN
Subject: Superman
Date: Fri, 11 Jan 2002
From: Lois
I
have been a Superman fan for many years, and a Christian all of
my life. I don't have a problem with biblical comparisons. I think
that true fans of the "Man of steel", will see an almost Christ
like similarity in Kal-el. Some more than others, but as with religion
itself, we all have our own take on things. No matter what faith
we are.
For
me, Superman is the perfect man. His pure heart, and gentle strength
is comforting. He is there if you call out his name, and his power
is never used for vengeance. We are all suppose to strive to be
more like Christ. What is wrong with seeing the Good in Superman?
The world would be a better place if we spent more time looking
for the positive message in things.
In
closing, let me say that I don't agree with the comment that Superman
is the anti christ. Get real. And the comment that "Smallville"
has bad acting is so off base. The latest portrayal of Clark is
a wonderful, and refreshing look at a special young man who discovers
his purpose in the world. It is set in modern times to attract a
younger audience. But it appeals to all generations. I personally
love the show, and find "Tom Welling" the perfect young Clark Kent.

When
I bought the DVD earlier this year, the Holy Spirit kept flashing
Jesus Christ in my soul and spirit as I watched the film. (to the
holy rollers who question me, shut up! Romans 1 clearly states that
the mystery of God is made known to all men. in this day and time,
He reveals Himself in films...not that Meggido/Left Behind nonsense
but in classics like Superman and Ben Hur. so there!) Your discourse
on Superman has now got me eager to reanalyze the Christ allegory
which is ALL OVER this film. Great Great Commentary. You have sown
a seed that will cause the world to understand Christ better...and
they'll give Him a chance!

Yes,
um, I'm honestly not the most religious creature, so be gentle with
me. You said that Lex Luthor's hideout was symbolic of hell, and
that that's an error people make. I'm not quite sure what I'm getting
wrong, that Satan's never in hell, or that hell isn't underground
or what? Any help would be appreciated.
Trish
Response:
Yes, you are very right. Hell is not underground. Satan is not in
Hell. These are popular myths. But they are the common mind of culture.
And that is what the myth of Superman is based on. Most Christians
believe that Satan operates out of hell, by the way, with some scripture
support in 2 Peter 2:4. I would recommend a good study in mythology
to you. You speak to people within their myths, not out side of
them, just as Jude did (Jude 1: 9 and 14f), and as Paul did (Acts
17:16-34). -David

David,
Hello. Congratulations on a coherent analysis of the Superman hero
myth. I wrote an undergraduate term paper on the subject for my
Myth and Symbolism class (yes, yes, philosophy major--insert joke
here) but hadn't seen anyone else's take on the matter. I imagine
you've seen the "Smallville" series; despite the horrific acting,
at least the writers did well enough to have Kent tied to cross
in a desolate cornfield. Perhaps the show has hope yet. Take care
and thank you,

Hi!
Are there any plans to discuss the new TV series, "Smallville",

was so MUCH a "crucifixion" scene that I finally had to accept your

Dear
Superman/Jesus site, For years now I have been telling my Christian
friends that Superman is a fictional re-telling of the greatest
story ever told, and they've been telling me I'm nuts. I'm glad
I'm not the only one out there who has notice the similarity. In
fact, in the DVD release of "Superman, The Movie" it's revealed
that the studio noticed it too, and wanted the filmmakers to tone
down the religious symbolism. But the filmmakers got their way.
When Jor-El says, "They (The human race) can be a great people,
they wish to be.....they only need a light to show them the way.
And so I will send them you, my only son....." I can't believe more
people didn't notice the obvious reference, there.

IS NOT CHRIST, BUT ANTICHRIST
Subject: Superman

From: Chris
I
am very thankful for your site, because you have -- however unwittingly
-- exposed a devilish deception. Obviously, I disagree with your
conclusions about Superman being a type of Jesus Christ -- especially
in the 1978 film, and I will tell you why. To understand this argument,
you must understand Isaiah 14:12-15. This passage states: "How are
thou fallen from Heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning ... For thou
hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt
my throne above the stars of God ... I WILL BE LIKE THE MOST HIGH."
The key is in the final words: "I (Lucifer) will be like the Most
High." Satan spends most of his time imitating the things of God
-- counterfeiting them, if you will. If you study Satan's titles
in the Bible, you will see that this is so. He is called the "Anointed
Cherub," in Ezekiel 28:14. The word "Anointed" means "Christ." Satan
is literally the "Christ Cherub." This may also be a reference to
his position as Anti-Christ. The Greek word "anti" has two meanings:
it means "against," and it also means "instead of" or "another."
Therefore, the anti-Christ is "another" Christ. There is a man who
currenly bears this title. The Latin equivalent of "anti" is "vicarius."
One of the Pope's titles is Vicarius Christi, the Vicar of Christ.
If you handed this title to a Greek translator, he would hand you
back the word "Antichrist." This is not slander, but is a simple
fact -- which might be pertinent when you consider that Mario Puzo
(one of the writers for the film) is a Roman Catholic. (Response:
So, what you are saying is: because the Pope is "antichrist"
it follows that Superman is also because writer Mario Puzo is Catholic.
Hmm. You need to know that Catholics are not anti-Christ. In fact,
they are pro-Christ)
I
find it also curious that Richard Donner (the director) had just
finished working on "The Omen," a horror film (however inaccurate)
about the Antichrist.
(Yes, but the film was against the Antichrist,
and was very pro-Christ. You are making a case by mere appearances).
Are these both coincidences? Maybe. But then another interesting
detail comes up: the film is given a favorable review from Communist
China. Why? Since when does it matter what China thinks about a
film? But this review somehow makes it to a place of recognition.
China outlaws the Bible, except for the government "edited and approved"
versions, and is one of the greatest persecutors of Christian martyrs
in the world. If you do your homework, you will learn that Communism
was bankrolled by the Vatican at its beginnings, and continues to
be manipulated from Rome. I believe it is no accident that the godless
Chinese government gave a favorable review to the anti-Christ rendition
of the Gospel story. Check it out. (Holy
cow! You do hate Catholics! You are accussing them of controlling
communism and killing Christians! I think your argument of Superman
being Antichrist has fallen. You are losing credibility)
Now
let's talk about some of the symbolism in the movie. You've written
about how "... the father becomes the son, and the son the father,"
concerning the relationship of Superman with his father. This is
a curious detail if you have studied the occult. In the Babylonian
Mystery Religion, this is basically a description of the relationship
between Nimrod (the father) and Tammuz (his son). According to the
legend, Nimrod was the king of Babylon (he also built the tower
of Babel, upon which Babylon was built), and he was married to Semiramis.
To make a long story short, Nimrod was killed and some time after,
Semiramis bore a son -- all the while insisting that she was a virgin.
She named the child Tammuz and claimed that he was the reincarnation
of Nimrod. Some versions of this story even claim that Tammuz went
on to marry his mother, symbolizing that "the father becomes the
son, and the son the father." These were the early attempts of Satan
counterfeiting the things of God, by creating a false Trinity. If
you read the book, "The Two Babylons" by Alexander Hislop, (a
very hate filled book against the Catholics -filled with inaccuracies,
as you are) you will learn that this
basic Trinity doctrine was carried to Egypt where it became the
story of Osiris, Isis, and Horus. It also went to many other parts
of the world, and reached its climax in Rome. When Constantine the
Great overtook the Roman empire and declared Christianity to be
an official religion, the pagans came into the church, and gave
their pagan gods "Christian" titles. Will Durant in his "Story of
Civilization" writes: "An intimate and trustful worship of saints
replaced the cult of pagan gods ... Statues of Isis and Horus were
renamed Mary and Jesus ..." Other sources go on to reveal that the
famous statue of St. Peter is a revised version of the ancient god,
Jupiter, and it goes on and on. This is significant when you consider
the Vatican's potential involvement in this film. The Babylonian
Mysteries are the foundation of the Roman Catholic faith. (OK,
Let me get this straight. You say, the Vatican was involved in making
Superman? I must tell you that your credibility is sinking even
more than it was)
Why
does Clark Kent (in disguise) work for a newspaper? Perhaps because
the Vatican controls the media and the American press? (What?
Oh my gosh. The Vatican controls the American media? I think you
have totally bottomed out now) This
may be a reflection of how Vatican agents work within the confines
of a free society to manipulate the information system, which has
not been a "free press" for at least a hundred years. You can quickly
check out William Randolph Hearst, (who was supposedly paid $400,000
a year by Adolf Hitler to print favorable articles about Germany
and the Nazis just before the war), and quickly realize that the
papers were deceptively controlling the thoughts of the people.
Hitler himself was supported by the Vatican -- the Jesuits in particular
-- which is supported by many books (hate
books, you mean) --
some of the best are from Dave Hunt, and Avro Manhattan. For more
info. you might read "Vatican Assassins" by Eric Jon Phelps (a
hate book). If you read "Fifty Years
in the Church of Rome" by former Catholic priest, Charles Chiniquy,
you will learn that the Vatican was controlling American newspapers
even in the days of Abraham Lincoln.
"Eve
saves Superman." Isn't this interesting. Eve it was who was deceived
by the Serpent in the garden of Eden. It was Eve who gave the forbidden
fruit to her husband (Adam) and helped to bring about the curse
upon humanity. Eve is glorified among Mormons for leading mankind
toward the knowledge of good and evil, which this cult believes
is the path to salvation. I am certainly not against this woman,
who is called "the mother of all living" (Genesis 3:20) -- but do
not mistake the placement of her name in this story. (Eve
in the film is a type of Mary of Magdeline, a sinner, not a saint.
Please view the film again).
Next,
to solve the great problem of "death," Superman turns things backwards.
This is a very telling statement if you study the writings of Aleister
Crowley -- a famed Satanist, and master of the occult. Crowley taught
the "backwards" system of Satanic worship. He taught that Satanists
should write backwards, talk backwards, and even walk backwards.
When the Satanic church holds a black mass, they say the "Our Father"
prayer of Jesus backwards. This is why so many rock bands write
their names backwards on their album covers, and even recorded satanic
messages backwards on the records themselves. So now, the movie
Superman tells us that the path to life is to turn things backwards.
Coincidence? Furthermore, according to the Bible, the Antichrist
will "... think to change the times and the laws ..." (Daniel 7:25)
If you compare this with Daniel 2:21, where the prophet says of
God, that He: "... changeth the times and the seasons," you will
see that -- once again -- Satan is seeking to "be like" God. (Oh
my, Satanist walk backwards and talk backwards? Come on! Get real.
This is so much nonsense aimed at the so called back masking dangers
of pop music. This is anti-Rock and Roll rubbish)
Perhaps
the most obvious Antichrist reference is the title of the character
himself: Superman. Adolf Hitler referred to him as the "Ubermensch"
-- the Superman, the Elite of the Race, the Lord of the Earth. This
was taken from Nietzsche's "Thus Spake Zarathustra" where he wrote:
"Behold I teach you the Superman. The Superman is the meaning of
the Earth. Let your will say: the Superman shall be the meaning
of the Earth. I beseech you, brothers, remain faithful to the earht,
and do not believe those who speak to you of unworldly hopes ..."
Nietzche was also an adamant hater of Christianity, saying, "I condemn
Christianity" in his work "The Antichrist." Trevor Ravenscroft,
in his book "The Spear of Destiny" gives us a bizarre quote from
Adolf Hitler in his adoration of the Superman, recorded from "Hitler
Speaks," by Hermann Rauschning. This is how it reads:
"The
air became stifling so that I could barely breathe. The noisy scene
of the Treasure House seemed to melt away before my eyes. I stood
alone and trembling before the hovering form of the Superman (Ubermensch)
-- a Spirit sublime and fearful, a countenance intrepid and cruel.
In holy awe, I offered my soul as a vessel of his will."
(Superman has Jewish roots. Not Nazi roots. You are an amazingly
hate-filled person. I think you may be dangerous. You seem to hate
Catholics, Mormons, rock artists, and New Agers. Hate is not good
my misguided friend)
The
New Age Movement is the strongest promoter of the New Age Superman,
the Cosmic Christ, and sometimes called "Lord Maitreya" in occult
circles. The real clincher comes when you learn that the "Father
of the New Age" is a Jesuit priest named Teilhard Chardin. When
Marilyn Ferguson wrote her famous book, "The Aquarian Conspiracy,"
Teilhard Chardin was the name most frequently mentioned by 185 leaders
in the New Age movement when asked who the most influential person
in their lives was. Chardin was treated as an apostate by the Vatican
in his lifetime, but "returned to the good graces of Rome 26 years
after his death." Why is this significant? Because it shows the
Vatican influence behind the New Age movement. Jesuits don't get
kicked out of the Catholic faith -- they're the ones running the
show. It's no accident that Teilhard Chardin was "returned" to good
graces after his death. (So,
let me get this straight. You are saying that the Vatican is responsible
for Communism, Adolph Hitler, and the New Age movement? You are
dangerous)
If
you love God, and our Lord Jesus Christ, then learn all that you
can in these treacherous times. Remember that the Lord has told
us: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 3:6).
The apostle Paul also warned the Church of receiving "another Jesus"
(2 Corinthians 11:4) -- and so we ought to be careful what manner
of gospel is presented to us. We ought to be very careful about
a Jesus that is loved by the world. Why? Because Jesus told us clearly
that the world hates Him, (John 7:7) and so it is not likely that
the world will in any way present a favorable version of His story.
The versions of Jesus' story in the media, and entertainment industry
are more and more corrupt every year. Read the Bible. And if you
really want to know the truth, do some homework and find out which
Bible you ought to read. Jesus sent his disciples out as sheep among
wolves. He warned us to be as harmless as doves, and wary as serpents.
We are to take heed that no man deceives us by any means. I would
hearken all believers to the first passages of the Book of Jude,
where he compels the church to "earnestly contend" for the faith.
He gives this exhortation under the compulsion of the Holy Spirit,
for the Church to withstand the false teachers who have "crept in
unawares." (So
the true test of being a Christian is to think like you? To hate
like you? To use the Bible to justify hate, as you do? You are a
very sick indidvidual. Please stay away from weapons. You can not
be trusted)
May
God our Father guide all those who seek and earnestly desire to
know the Truth.
Peace in Jesus, Chris

l will once again watch the epic film `Superman', and watch it with
what l have read as a source for interpreting the actions of Clark
and Superman in a different light. The writers of the film have
truely captured this most wonderful person of Jesus and introduced,
with some depth l might add, the theologies surrounding the placement
of the fully divine full human person of God. The most powerful
saviour. The only question l have is: like Larry Norman's great
seventies song, we do see that the son from Krypton (AKA Clark)
was not the only one from heaven; as it is depicted. The question
of how many saviours and how many other `worlds'. Remembering that
space is space. where to next for the mind of a human being? Should
we approach with much care the possibility that Superman was in
fact the greatest prophetic moment of modern time.

When
I first saw this movie I thought of it nothing more then just another
superman movie. But then I looked deeper into it and checked on
the net for some reviews on it and went and watched it again. after
viewing it a second time I noticed many symbolizations. After finding
that the makers of superman were Jewish and that he was created
at the time of Hitler I think that superman was made as a Jesus
type figure. here on earth to save the innocent and destroy the
bad. Lex Luther, who is symbolized as Satan is the evil side. trying
to destroy this hero who has came to earth, he lives underground
which is hell and offers superman this world and tempts him just
as Satan tempted Jesus. superman's parents Jarel and Kalel are symbolized
as the father who has sent his son to earth. Clark Kent's parents
are symbolized as Mary and Joseph who are given this responsibility
to take care of him. when Lex Luther puts the kryptonite around
his neck that symbolizes the death and the cross. Lois is sort of
peter the disciple figure as she is taken for a fly and stumbles
as did peter when he walked on water. the earthquake is a symbol
of end times. and Lois dies and he goes back in time and saves her.
that is the resurrection. in many or all of superman's rescues and
"miracles" he ascend to the heavens leaving the people on the earth
to spread the word of his power and ability to save. similar to
our responsibility as Christians to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ
to all the earth.

SUPERMAN

Hi
I always saw the character of Superman as Jesus in disguise. I have
a Christian friend who does not believe this, but you have illustrated
it most convincingly. I'd love to see your article expanded to a
video presentation, using some of the film versions of the life
of Christ to punctuate that Superman is actually Jesus, and not
just in Superman, The Movie. Even with his recent comic adventures,
he died saving mankind from an evil that threatened to end life
on Earth, and literally rose from the dead. I also saw a lot of
parallels between the 1978 Superman and Disney's Hercules. Thankfully,
I don't think there's going to be a "Church of Superman," "Supermanians,"
or "Latter Day Superheroes" wearing the Superman "S" as their symbol
instead of a cross. Seeing this as a retelling of the story of Jesus,
one can understand the difficulty in trying to create a worthy sequel
without rehashing or repeating oneself. There is no real sequel
to the New Testament, so the source material has to be original,
and anyone who sees current Hollywood fare knows that originality
is a rare commodity.

SUPERMAN
MYTHOS SIMILAR TO HERCULES MYTHOS
Date: Sun, 25 Feb 2001 07:49:11 -0500
From: Samuel Ewing SARASWATI@prodigy.net
Hello,
I really enjoy your insight into the symbolism between Superman
and Jesus. I would like to add that there are also parallels between
Hercules, Superman, and Jesus as well; the writers of the Superman
character were quoted as saying that their heroic figure was based
on Hercules as well. Some of the common themes between these characters
are
1.
They redeem humanity by their actions and redeem themselves at the
same time.
2.
They experience death and resurrection.
3.
They represent the sun and its powers to destroy evil with fire,
light, and glory.
4.
They perform fantastic feats of strength and healing. Most people
aren't aware that Hercules was also renowned as a healer, physician,
and his club could either kill or bring people back to life.
5.
All three had seemingly divine fathers.
6.
All three savior figures had someone analogous to the Holy Spirit.
Superman's Kryptonian mother fulfilled this role and Hercules had
Athena (Divine Wisdom) with the owl as the zootype. Jesus obviously
had the Holy Spirit according to Christian tradition represented
by the Dove.
7.
Hercules and Jesus were often seen in ancient times as emblems of
each other by pagans and Christians of ancient Greece and Rome.
8.
All three are "fighting the never- ending battle for truth, justice
and righteousness (in Superman's case the American Way)."
9.
All three are half human and half divine, what the ancients would
call demigods/heroes in the West and avatars in Eastern teachings.
10. All three descended into hell or Tartarus to defeat the hideous
forces of evil and death and or to bring the dead back to life.
11.
Hercules' lion skin gave him some measure of invulnerability comparable
to Superman. There are obvious similarities between Jesus the Lion
of Judah and Hercules the Lion of Thebes. The lion is another zootype
they share.
12.
All three are famed for representing and wielding the powers of
fire and light to dispel evil. They have powers over nature such
as water, storms etc. *Hercules was famed for being able to find
and use water by stamping his feet or asking his father for water.
He was associated with creating and dispelling thunderstorms like
his father Zeus. There are numerous other parallels but I think
these are sufficient.
Supergirl
in the comic books and the movie also has striking parallels to
the Holy Spirit. The concept of the Holy Spirit was well known by
ancient people of various countries as a Female Power of the Supreme
Being prior to being officially made into a masculine persona in
later history. *I wrote an article about Supergirl showing that
She was known in ancient African cultures including Cush and Egypt
as the demigoddess named Kara. The American Supergirl named Kara
and the most ancient Kara of Africa are strikingly similar and one
wonders was African literature the source of DC Comic's information.
Supergirl
or Kara is a Female Messiah figure (Female Messiahs were not uncommon
in ancient times). In the movie Helen Slater experiences with fighting
the Shadow (Biblical Dragon/Satan), traveling through inner space
in an egg shaped craft that becomes a flower (the World Egg), her
love for nature, using lightning against the Dragon, fighting to
save the human male sweetheart, descending into Hell to death then
rising with renewed power as if resurrected, Argo city (the Solar
Ark of Deity in ancient texts) etc. are all examples of how ancient
the Supergirl story is. The main theme of this movie is that Supergirl
is pure Love Personified from the decent and human perspective to
the cosmic level.
Love
is the Supergirl that defeats evil. I've a website devoted to revealing
facts about the Hercules Concept that aren't commomly known, the
ancient theme of Superman and Supergirl is discussed there too.

ideas are abundant and how various historical figures tried to emulate
these ideas even into present day America. I would appreciate any
insights you could give me on this subject. Again, your website

CHRISTIANITY
IS NOT A PAGAN RIP OFF.
Subject:
Date: Tue, 23 Jan 2001

Hello
David- Great site- very interesting approach. I was a little bothered
by something you said on the Superman page- about the "many pagan
savior gods who died and rose again"(quotes are not your exact words,
but meaning I disagree with the notion) I have encountered MANY
claims of this, usually from atheists who use these accredited "facts"
to show how Christianity is just a pagan rip-off! Interesting that
you take the positive approach, as signs from God, perhaps a position
derived in part from Romans 1 on "they knew God, but..". I know
Augustine and CS Lewis took a similar "positive" view in a sense,
and I know they were wise on the subject.
Anyways,
perhaps I am attacking a straw-man here, but having read a number
of words by apologetics on the whole "Christianity stolen form paganism"
theories, I found that many of the case the atheists critics use
to compare Christianity are grossly misrepresented- I understand
the "Christ-type" work you are doing is meant as a positive work,
but the negative argument against Christianity uses the same ideas
with different conclusions. My point is that the similarities between
Christianity and various paganisms have in many way been grossly
exagerrated- if you have the time check out this rather thorough
link on the subject. I aprreciate what you do and know you mean
well, just think that bland comparisons to the "savior-myth gods"
often do more harm to belief in Christ to good- sorry for any rough
tones.

with it, why should I not be. -David

you
mislead your self and others by compering superman to jesus the
creators are jewish . are the converted there jewish religion to
christianity ? (I don't think so) Judaism to these how don't know
sticking to the old version of the bible , no recognition to jesus
at all. (You
are so very wrong. The movie was written by Mario Puzo, of Catholic
background. But, I understand where you are going -and I like what
you are trying to say) I
am impressed you found that names of superman and his father were
hidden within god's name . Kal = light (opposite of heavy) maybe
a hint a bout his flight status el = god jor j=y like Jordan jewish
pronounce yarden so if you put y"a"rel only in hebrew you won't
see "a" so it's will be yrel will pronounce as yerael means "god
fearing" (if you know hebrew it's easy to understand ask the pop)
you wrote "tikkum olam" instead "tikun olam" means "mend the world"
if you want to find what biblical character describes better superman
, try the old testimony . krypton can describes many places like
abraham living iraq to the unknown land or israel at Babel exile
becoming aliens around the world trying to survive but can't course
pieces of kryptonite(roots) on there tail . jewish like superman
become acknowledge to there talents that were hidden in there home
and many residents of countries want to use them for their own benefits
or to destroy them as some would destroy superman . some people
blame jewish by possessing good jobs and other thinks . jewish are
not to take the blame for that they been blessed by almighty for
the unique abilities to get faster in the ladders . but as superman
they have one weakness spot , as superman engage with piece of kryptonite
, survival from his planet makes him like humans with no power for
the jews returning to israel will make them loose these powers these
talents( not necessary it's correct ) but sure will loose there
ego image . but before people want to get rid of them . think of
superman and his contribute to there home . there evil jews too
that cause of there evil ways blaming collectively all jews for
wrongs as in superman II confronting three from his planet try to
defend the earth from these who use there special abilities for
evil goals and make look superman real bad intresting poin to add
in superman II when three were terrorising and superman were lost
his powers people lost there trust to superman only one was still
kipping his faith to god and superman "the president of the united
states" sounds familiar to what happening now . when Clark kent
left his house starts journey to find his origins and some voice
start calling him it's has some resembles to what was with mosses
. space cradle = mosses in cradle , superman adopted so mosses .
conclusion : you find lots of biblical in superman I guess that's
what the creators planned. (Exactly)

Subject: I KNEW IT!!

From: Chris from Texas
Hi, I KNEW IT ! I KNEW IT ! I KNEW IT! I've been a serious student
of God's Word for many years now and I'm total Superman nut (especially
the Christopher Reeve version). And having studied the Bible, The
Torah, The Apocrypha and The Dead Sea Scrolls I saw this freaky
similarity between the Kryptonian names and the various names of
Angels (as well as many other Hebrew names). I kept telling people
that those guys who created Superman must have been Christians or
Jews because of all those "El" names but nobody believed me. But
I KNEW IT ALL ALONG! I knew I was right! My wife just had a baby
girl (Abagail [named after Mother Abagail from "The Stand"] {Hebrew
translation: My Fathers joy}) but before she was born we made a
deal about the name of our child. If it was to be a girl then she
would get to name her, if it was to be a boy then I would get to
name him. And I was either going to name my son "Kal-El" or "Jor-El."
My wife hated those names so she's glad it was a girl (LOL). This
site is AWESOME!

Right
Now,The Salkinds rested The Superman Movies and went on to try "Supergirl"
waiting in the wings. In the Supergirl Movie on Christianity is that
Superman's Cousin Kara (Played By Helen Slater "12:01","City Slickers")
is a Sole Survivor of the Destruction of Planet Krypton lives at
Argo City moved to Inner Space (Instead of Outer Space),and She
is sent on a Maiden Voyage to Planet Earth By A Scientist name Zaltar
(Played By Peter O'Toole) who lost the source? called the "Omegahedron"
which flew off to Planet Earth and falls into the hands of a Witch
(Played By Faye Dunaway "Albany Allugator","The Chamber") for ruling
the Planet Earth with all her magic, and Supergirl has to conquer
her, and She disguises herself as a High-School Student as Linda
Lee, and Falls in love with The Gardener name Ethan (Played By Hart
Bochner "Die Hard".Remember in the Bible Supergirl is like Deborah
a Prophetess who led Israel to Victory, That God send a Woman to
do a Man's Job.

I liked your article on the Superman-Jesus subject. I liked Superman
since I was a kid! He was my hero! Now, Jesus is my hero! He is
the Lord of my life, He loved me so much He died for my sins! Superman
is fictional, but I agree their is alot of simalarities! He always
was nice, he cared for people no matter how bad they were, he saved
people. I feel modern comics have taken away Superman as he was
orginally created to do. He still is goo and righteous, but different.
I liked the Superman of the past and I like some of the newer ones.
When Superman died in issue #75 it reminded me of Jesus. He layed
down his life for everyone, against an unbeatable monster called
Doomsday. Jesus layed down His life against a monster none of us
could beat called Sin. I believe that is why I have always liked
Superman, he was maybe a "type" or kind of like Jesus. Let us always
remember though that Jesus is not Superman and remember who we must
truly worship, the Lord Jesus! Once again I love your article and
I may use it in my Youth Ministry! God Bless! Romans 8:28

Right
Now! in the Current Series Supergirl is no longer a Kryptonian Hero
as Superman's Cousin, She's Matrix The Shape-Shifting Alien in using
her name and Right Now She's Currently An Angel from the Heavens
called the "Earth-born" She's like Michael The Archangel casting
out Satan and His Demons on Planet Earth taken over a Human Form
of a Dying Woman name Linda Danvers sacrifice by a Demon Cult in
a Small Town called Leesburg, and She's a Phenomenon Being of Heavenly
Souls.Remember from the movie on the quotes on Selena and Bianaca
talking about Angels. Bianaca:"Fools Rush In,and Angels Trend" Selena:"Im
No Angel"

HOW
IT AFFECTED ME
Subject: Superman and Jesus Christ
Date: Wed, 23 Aug 2000
From: Simone
I by accident, stumbled onto your sight. What caught my attention
was this comparison you have made between Jesus Christ and Superman
the Movie. About 3 years ago I did a paper in college on this very
subject. Being a Superman fan, especially, the movie, I wanted to
write about the movie and how it affected me. It was easy for me
to see the religous corolation of the two. I did not know Superman's
creators are Jewish. I wrote about a more Christian side of the
movie, because of my unfamiliarity of Judeism. After reading your
story, and seeing more points of views that I didn't even see before,
really opened my eyes to how great that movie really was. And to
understand why it affected so many people, including myself. Some
of your critics argue your agenda at writing this article. I don't
believe you are trying to take any deep spiritual meaning away from
Jesus, just adding it to Superman.

EL
TOPO AND DUNE
Subject: "El Topo" and Superman
Date: Fri, 04 Aug 2000
From: Joe Admire
In reference to Matt Burgener's message of February 24, the director
of "El Topo" is Alexander Jodorowsky. You can find a very good analysis
of this unusual (heck - bizarre!) movie in Danny Peary's 1981 book
"Cult Movies". The thing about "El Topo" is that there's also a
lot of religious imagery in it; maybe someday if you find a copy
on video you can do a review of it. (Incidentially, Jodorowsky at
one point helmed the "Dune" project but bowed out - "Dune" might
well be another movie well worth it for you to analyze; in fact,
Frank Herbert gets very heavily into the Messianic symbolism in
his Dune novels.)
