But what internet speeds will Amazon offer?
Amazon has been talking about offering home internet for a while now, and it’s finally becoming a reality after getting approval from the FCC. Amazon plans to launch satellites into space to offer internet to 400 million customers over the next few years.
The big question has been what internet speeds Amazon will offer. Now Amazon has announced three different options: a standard version with speeds up to 400 Mbps, a pro version with speeds up to 1 Gbps, and an ultra-portable version for travel with speeds up to 100 Mbps.
Unfortunately, the price hasn’t been announced yet, but Amazon wants to make it competitive with SpaceX’s Starlink internet service, which costs $90 a month in good coverage markets. Amazon hopes to launch satellites next year after testing some possible models this year. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about Amazon’s home internet service.
