Joker: Folie à Deux,” performed poorly at the box office.

The highly anticipated sequel to the 2019 hit “Joker,” titled “Joker: Folie à Deux,” performed poorly at the box office. It only earned $40 million domestically in its opening weekend, falling far below the $70 million projections. Internationally, it fared slightly better with $81.1 million, bringing its global total to $121.1 million.

The film’s underperformance can be attributed to negative reviews and a D CinemaScore, the lowest ever for a comic book movie. Both audiences and critics were disappointed, feeling that the sequel didn’t live up to the original. Additionally, the film’s budget was significantly higher than the first movie, costing $200 million compared to the original’s $65 million.

Despite the star power of Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, the film struggled at the box office, making it one of the biggest disappointments of the year of the year.
